Anatomy
Body
Mawmaw are creatures that are quadruped, rarely standing up on their back legs unless they are reaching for something. They are built for travel and endurance, often being able to run long distances without tiring.
Because they are descendants of formidable dragons, they are large, ranging in size from an african lion (3.9 ft or 118 cm at the shoulder) to that of a black rhino (6.1 ft or 185 cm at the shoulder). They have long, un-retractable claws as well as three to five spines on the lower region of their back. Horns are also a common feature, and the amount and style of each varies from mawmaw to mawmaw. Mawmaw range in all sizes, from bulky and brutish to slender and lean. There is no limit on physical diversity! |
Limbs & Paws
Mawmaw have legs resembling that of big cats, meaning large paws and paw pads. Their paws provide lots of traction, allowing them to walk on slippery surfaces or scale large trees and structures.
While it may not appear as if they have thumbs, the dew claw can act as such, allowing for simple grasping of objects. Still, most mawmaw prefer to use their mouth to carry things or lift it with simple arcane spells. |
Mouths
|
Surprisingly enough, most mawmaw do not have teeth. Instead they have 'beaks', or sharpened points on the tips and sides of their mouth that allows them to crack into their food or break it into manageable pieces. They also all share forked tongues and a hardened ridge on the bridge of their noses.
There are uncommon cases of seeing mawmaw with tusks or fangs, usually caused by a strange extended protrusion in the skull. Full sets of teeth are rare, and usually only found on higher tiers of mawmaw (ascended/mutants). A mawmaw's eyes, inner mouth/areas, and paw pads are all the same color, also meaning their blood shares the same shade. The reason behind blood color variation is widely unknown, though most have linked it to something magic in nature. |
Colorations
Mawmaw come in all shades and colorations! There is no limitations on their coloration, aside from the mouth, paws, and eyes being the same shade (to have discolored parts would be rare trait). Bear in mind, however, that the more complex the markings the rarer they probably are! This means that anything that resembles writing/runes/numbers or anything of the sort is off limits! Think natural animal markings! And of course, if you have any concerns, ask snapple!
